DOS Boot Disk for DL380G3 not working...!
hi!
i was trying to create a GHOST Netword Boot Disk for my DL380G3 Server. I downloaded the latest E1000 driver (prodos2.exe) from the INTEL website. Then i added the driver to the list of available drivers in the ghost 2003 boot disc wizard. everything worked fine.
when i boot my server with the disc, the driver stops with the message:
Intel(R) PRO/1000 Networks Connections Driver v3.46
Error: Unable to locate the PCI LAN Adapter.
The following are possible reasons....
.... [some lines]...
Error 7306: The driver failed to initialize
OK. I took an (old) working Boot Disc with the E100B drivers configured on it, copied the E1000.DOS file on the floppy and modified the .INI files (changed E100B with E1000).
same effect.
what am i doing wrong and how can i get the GBit NIC with DOS up-n-running??
regards,
matthias

Re: DOS Boot Disk for DL380G3 not working...!
The G3 has 2 NC7781 onboard nics. As far as I know NC77xx means Broadcom (not intel) chips onboard. You could try the q57 dirver from this softpaq:

Re: DOS Boot Disk for DL380G3 not working...!
I was able to create a network boot disk with the q57 NDIS drivers for DL380G3.
Attached files show the config I used.
I also used the SmartStart ScriptingKit 2.2 Best Practices PDF to modify the required files for the MS Network Client. With this procedure I was able to include new drivers to the MS Network Client Setup.
