Dual Processor / SMP Kernel Crashes

I've got a DL360 with Dual 800mhz cpu's, 512MB, Integrated RAID & 2 18GB HD's. I followed the instructions on how to install using the SmartStart CD. In single processor mode (linux-up) the system works fine. But when I try to boot in SMP mode, the system crashes and reboots. This is a generic install running 2.2.16-22 kernel and nothing special. I've reinstalled twice with the same problem. Any ideas??

Thanks,
Mark

Re: Dual Processor / SMP Kernel Crashes

I figured it out...seems that the vendor I purchased the systems from added the 2nd CPU and heatsink. The heatsink has the conductive material and a plastic covering, the vendor did not remove the plastic covering and the cpu was heating up and the freezing up. Once I make sure the cpu and heatsink had good contact, everything worked fine.
