Dual Rank memory on ML 350 G4p

I've a strange issue with dual rank memory and windows server 2003 standard (italian).
I'm installing a new server with this memory configuration:
slot 1: 512Mb, slot 2: 512Mb
slot 3: 2Gb dual rank, slot 4: 2Gb dual rank
other slot empty.

512 two modules are HP branded, 2Gb dual rank are Trascend branded.

During Post I see all ram correctly (5Gb), but windows sees only 3.5Gb!

I've tried leaving only dual rank modules, always 3.5Gb, while with only two 512Mb modules I see 1Gb.

I've also tried putting dual rank modules in slot 1 and 2, and 512 modules in slot 3 and 4 but the result is the same.

Is there anyone who had similar strange behaviour? Should I consider a malfunctioning of those modules?

Thanks to everyone.

You need to use \PAE switch in boot.ini
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;283037
Note that 32-bit edition of windows 2003 standard can use 4 Gb RAM maximum.

Make sure you have last BIOS.

Re: Dual Rank memory on ML 350 G4p

This would explain what happened to the other 512 mb of memory:

The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
