DVDRW does not recognized by SLES

Proliant DL380 G6 with disk drive serial ATA hosts SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1. The Operating System does not recognize the DVDRW.
the server works fine just with an exernal USB disk drive.
The DVDRW is not showed among HW info.
What about it? Are some drivers there to install?

Before that: can you see it during boot and boot a cd from it? Is it not seen in dmesg at all or where can't you see it?

I cannot answer to the first question becuase at the moment I have just a remote access to the server. Please find attached the dmesg output.

OK. I can't see it in those files (but I didn't look very hard either..). Looks like it finds a USB cd though?

Do you see it in the POST?

There is no DVDRW in the fstab. Should there even be?

The customer is using an external USB DVD to work on the server and it works fine.

Just to describe the situation: I am a software engineer not a IT manager and I do not know very well SuSE but I must resolve the problem for the customer as soon as possible. I tried to fix the problem in front of the server as well with the IT manager of the customer but he thought it was an HW problem but also after a DVD replacement it is not working yet.

OK, I'm not a SLES guy either, but I would start checking if the server can see the DVD-drive at all..
Like: Is the new one seen in POST? At all? Do you see it in BIOS? Does it blink/get power?

Sorry I do not understand what POST means. Could you explain me?
In any case it is showed in the BIOS and it gets power but for example I cannot see it from YAST as well.
