I want to upgrade my DL380 GB up to 5 GB of RAM.
To use this memory with oracle server 9.2 I need to enable PAE.
I've read that this is done by adding the /PAE switch to boot.ini, but I'm a littlebit confused remebering an bios option named PAE on that device.
So my question is how to enable PAE on DL380 G2
using
/PAE only in boot.ini
/3GB /PAE in boot.ini
selecting PAE in the BIOS
or a mix of all?

Re: enable PAE on Proliant DL 380 G2 Windows 2000 Adv Server
The above issue is addressed in the following HP document
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=PSD_EL041214_CW01
And to enable the PAE in boot.ini refer to
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEdrv.mspx
Thanks

Re: enable PAE on Proliant DL 380 G2 Windows 2000 Adv Server
/3GB and /PAE switch in boot.ini and everything works fine.
The only thing is strange is, that the Insight Manager shows Hardware PAE is not aktiv.
But I think the way I enabled PAE is by software or not?

Re: enable PAE on Proliant DL 380 G2 Windows 2000 Adv Server
As far as know
/PAE is
Hardware: because you need to have 4GB or more or memory
software: because you need to add /PAE to windows to make it work
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEdrv.mspx
it is not a very good answer... sorry
