Erroneous SNMP status on identifying RHEL5 system in SIM 5.2?

I've been having a tough time getting my RHEL5 servers discovered properly in SIM 5.2. I believe I have all of the appropriate agents running (recently upgraded from 8.15 to 8.20 in the process of trying to solve my issues), and with both versions, I have full functionality of the System Management Homepage. However, when trying to run the "Identify Systems" tasks on this node from the CMS, I get a slew of errors in the output indicating that "The system does not support SNMP".

In looking for additional information using the "Manage Communications" utility, it says that "The system(s) can not be identified by either WBEM or SNMP". Since the SMH is running fine via SNMP, I assumed I had all of the SNMP bits configured correctly. I've visually double-checked the community strings and the RHEL firewall is disabled.

Is there a detailed log anywhere that can tell me where the communication path is falling apart? Also, I'm just noticing that I cannot do a reverse name lookup on the IP of the CMS (although I am using the DNS name throughout the snmpd.conf file, which resolves and pings just fine). Would that be a root cause here?

I'm sure I'm overlooking something very simple that is preventing this from working properly. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I would first fix the possible DNS problem.

Then troubleshoot the SNMP trouble with tcpdump , wireshark or similar tool.
