Event Notification with mail

Been out of the server configuration business for a while, and wanted to have the HP Event notifier sending me mails when something goes wrong, but all I can find is that there's a notification service sending messages to the Windows Event Log (where they remain unseen).

I remember there used to be something like cimnotify that allowed the configuration of SMTP server and where you could select all events you wanted notifications from.

Is this no longer possible ?

Server: DL380 G8 on Windows 2008 R2, installed management agents, system management homepage.
