External Array on DL580 - Dive wont rebuild

Hi all. We have a DL580 700 Mhz server with a SA5300 controller and a 440 GB (14 36.4 GB Drives) exteral array. One of the drives on the external array failed and when we try to rebuild the drive it reaches 7%, stops rebuilding, and the ACU tells me its waiting for rebuild. We ordered a new peripheral board for the server, replaced the array controller, updated all the firmware, etc. Compaq thinks it may be the backplane on the external array. Does anyone have any other ideas of what this may be? This is a mission critical server. Thanks all.
