Failed Disk in Proliant 3000

Yesterday we had a disk fail on our server which was replaced with the hot spare. The faulty disk was taken out and new parts ordered. What is the correct procedure for replacing the newly purchased disk back into RAID. Is it done with the server running or do we shut down? Any help greatly appreciated

Just plug in the replacement drive. The Smart RAID controller will autodetect the drive and rebuild data. When it's finished then the 'old' hot spare will be hot spare again. You can do this while the server is running.
