Fan Failure
The fan at the back of this server stopped working. At startup the system gave the message 1611 fan failure. I had the fan replaced and it is working, but the 1611 message still apears.
In the critical failure log, the failure is logged as fan 2, but neither the system board nor the CPU board has a connector labeled "fan 2".
On the CPU board, next to the CPU there is a connector labeled "fan". The original fan was plugged into that connector. Now the replacement fan is plugged into the same connector.
Is this even the correct connector?

Re: Fan Failure
If the original fan plugged in this spot, then it's the right connector. What kind of fan did you replace it with? The fans we use have a sensor inside that communicates with the system board. If it's not a compaq spare part, you'll still get this message.
