Features of SPP?
quick question - back in the day i could boot my proliant from the smartstart cd and perform a prompted OS install out of smartstart. Does the SPP offer the same ability? At least some older servers will bott from SPP but only offer firmware upgrade, diagnostics, and array config. What's the HP advised way to install OS with proper drivers in the SPP age?

Re: Features of SPP?
Hi Eric,
SPP is a combination of the old SPP and Firmware DVD. This is not the same as the Smartstart CD.
Smartstart CD is and was used for server deployment up to the G7 servers... From Gen8 servers on, Smartstart is replaced by the build-in Intelligent Provisioning functionality from the ILO4 Management Engine...
So to deploy your Gen8 server, use the build-in tools...
SPP stays there for the updates (offline and online) to update the firmware, drivers and agents, independent of the generation of server...
Kr,
Bart

Re: Features of SPP?
In other words - still use smartstart 8.70 for pre-Gen8 servers or just install the OS and deploy the latest SPP after installing the OS. You should apply the latest SPP anyway ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
