Firmeware Update "Smart Array P440ar Controller" on ESXi 6.5 not attempted
Hello,
we have a vSAN Cluster with two ProLiant DL360 Gen9 working with VMware ESXi, 6.5.0, 5310538.
Now, the vSphere Management says, that the Current Smart Array P440ar Controller Firmware 4.02-0 is not VMware certified. Recommended Firmware is 4.52.0.
OK -> no problem. I want to upgrade the firmware with Version 5.04
But the Installer says:
[root@esx3:/vmfs/volumes/vsan:...] ./CP032042.vmexe HPE strongly recommends that this firmware update be performed in an offline environment. If this firmware update is performed online, ensure a graceful shutdown or restart is performed in order to flush all data from the controller cache before the new firmware is activated. Abruptly rebooting the system while there is data in cache might result in data loss. Online ROM Flash Component for VMware ESXi - Smart Array H240ar, H240nr, H240, H241, H244br, P240nr, P244br, P246br, P440ar, P440, P441, P542D, P741m, P840, P840ar, and P841 (5.04), searching... ============ Summary ============ Smart Component Finished Exit Status: 3 Update not attempted. All selected devices are either up-to-date or have newer versions installed.
iLo says Smart Array P440ar Controller = 4.02 too.
Can somebody help me?

Re: Firmware Update "Smart Array P440ar Controller" on ESXi 6.5 not attempted
No idea what's wrong.
But since you need a reboot anyway, consider to mount SPP 2017.04 via virtual media and boot from.
You will get BIOS 2.40 and probably some other components too.
Consider also to upgrade to ILO 4 version 2.53, but this is only available via web page, not on SPP.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
