Full RAM is not showing on system properties
Hello Experts,
I have few servers and some of them are with 4GB showing accurating RAM in system properties but some of them with 4GB or 8 GB but in system properties only showing 2GB RAM and some servers aer showing 3.25GB.
Would any expert tell me why is this and how can I utilize the full RAM.
All servers are 32bit and Server 2003 Standard Edition.

Re: Full RAM is not showing on system properties
With 2003 server standard 4GB is the maximum so to use 8GB you will have to upgrade to enterprise edition.
For the ones showing 2GB you may have either "online spare memory" or "mirrored memory" configured but i think this is unlikely, somtimes the memory has to be in matching pairs and be installed in specific slot order, otherwise it will be ignored.
See the server installation guide for details
For the ones showing 3.25 you should boot with the /PAE flag, read these first.

Re: Full RAM is not showing on system properties
Thank you Phill, That helps...
But do you think servers who are showing RAM 2GB are in accurate slots I need to enable /PE for them.?
And about those who are showing 3.25GB they are showing this at the end on boot.ini " /NoExecute=OptOut" where should I edit /PE .
Do I need to replace this /NoExecute=OptOut /PE or add at the end?
Please advise

Re: Full RAM is not showing on system properties
it's /PAE - what we use is
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Standard" /fastdetect /PAE /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Standard" /fastdetect /PAE /NoExecute=OptIn
