Hello,
Is there somewhere a comprensive guide that will help managing firmware for Gen10 servers running ESXi 7. I have tried to read the iSUT documentation (30-BBBC0B20-400) ... but it's not all clear to me.
I launched SUM on a windows machine ( from the ISO of Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant , 2023.03.00). Then I had a host (Nodes) iving the IP of my ESXi installed on this DL380 Gen10. I get the following :
VMware server of generation post Gen9 identified
Starting with Gen10 servers, updates to systems running ESXi are performed via the iLO maintenance interface. Please use iLO IP (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) and credentials to update this system.
So I proceed with adding Nodes, giving this time the iLO IP and I get :
Warning: Integrated Smart Update Tools was not running on the OS. If components are selected to install via an iLO install set that require installation in the OS then they will not run unless iSUT or Smart Update Manager are run.
But my VMware host has SUT installed :
[root@ESXiHOST:~] sut -status
System Update Manager...................: OS Administrator
Task Status.............................: Bios:N/A; LocalStorage:N/A; Deploy:Idle
Staging Directory.......................: /tmp/stagingdirectory
Baseline URI............................: None
Baseline Version........................: Waiting for staging
Mode of Operation.......................: AutoStage
Polling Interval In Minutes.............: 5
Force Deploy............................: No
Optional Components.....................: None
EnableiLOQueuedUpdates..................: true
User Action Needed......................: To perform firmware update, in OneView, import the server, create, and apply a server profile with baseline. In Compute Ops Management, connect the server to CoM and trigger an Update Firmware action. In iLO Amplifier Pack, import the server and perform Firmware Update.
iLO Security Mode.......................: Production
iLO CAC Smartcard Authentication........: Off
iLO CAC Strict Mode.....................: Off
Where do I go from there ?

Re: Gen10 - iSUT - ESXi - SUM
@TVVJ I looked at the version 4.0.0 of this guide already. Didn't know there was a newer version .... but the documentation is ... let's say "as usefull as it is hard to find the correct version" ... (inho).
