General SmartArray Question
Can the SmartArray controller write an "Medium Error" entry into an individual physical disk's error log? I have been told this is indeed true however my understanding is that the S.M.A.R.T. engine within each disk drive is responsible for the drive's error log entries and all of the drive's errorlog entries are there because that drive had a real physical error and no external condition can cause error entries to be written to a drive. I am asking this question because I have been told that a drive in a Raid-5 set can have "Medium Errors" written to it's errorlog as a result of a URE at the Logical Disk originating from more than one of the other members in the Logical disk having URE's on the same stripe.
