getting server mac address

Anyone knows a way of getting the MAC address from the NIC, without booting and installing the operating system in the server?

thanks.

Re: getting server mac address

Try connecting to the ilo and look in the "System Status" tab and then select "server status".

I think without booting you can't figure out the MAC address.
But if you have an OEM preinstall kit or Windows PE, you can boot the operating system from CD and view the MAC address.
You can use also one floppy or bootable CD versions of Linux, for example http://trinityhome.org/trk.

Hi,

"System Status" doesn't show for all systems e.g. HP BL20p G2, but in case of G3 it shows. If manual solution is enough and you are interested in HP built-in NIC MACs, probably you will find them at BIOS setup screen.
