Hard Drive Swap on a ML350 with 2 drives mirrored

I have a client with an ML350 server the C: Drive consist of two 73GB drives that are mirrored. We are down to 4gb free on them. We want to replace the two 73GB drives with two 300GB drives. Could I replace one drive at a time and let the system build the mirror onto the 300GB drive and then replace the second drive with the other 300GB drive? We are scheduled for Friday to start this so any thoughts before then would be great. Thanks

yes, you can.

but if you use win2003, you cannot extend the system partition
hmm, well, you can, but with third party tools pq magic etc.

so you can use third party tool, or simply create a new logical disk / ntfs partition to data.

So to clarify as it is getting late. The partition initialy has to be the same size as the original drive and then stretch it out with partition magic or equivelent?

hello GLCS,

yes. replace first hdd to larger, if raid1 created, replace second hdd to larger, after raid1 created, do you have a 73 gb logical disk, and a lot of free space.
and than you choose:
- create another raid1 logical drive (in ACU), then use it in windows as a new partition
- if your SA card support extend, you can extend the logical disk, than you have a large (300Gb) logical disk, after restart windows, you can see in disk manager there is free space in your disk. if you need more free space in your system partition (c:) you have to use third party sw (pqmagic). if you have data volume, and want to increase, that you can do with diskpart, or disk manager, not need third party sw.

and dont forget, if something goes wrong, do you have the original system in your 72Gb hdd!

Thanks for the info. I am looking forward to getting started. I did not mention this earlier but it is an SBS 2008 server I know the partion tools are a better package than the 2003.
