How do i connect to iLO

I have several servers with iLO
some with iLO 1, but most with iLO 2.

They are getting IP's but hp's docs suck.. or my googleing sucks...

I thought you went to a http://serverip to view the iLO interface...

When i try to load the windows management interface it says it says the Insight Management Agents arent installed...

Re: How do i connect to iLO

try https://ilo ip

If you are using DHCP, look in DHCP Manager for the ILO serial numer (it will be on the tag attached to the server). On that tag is also the username and password you will need to access for the first time. Once on the interface, go to Administration and create yourself another user other than Administrator. While still logged in as Administrator, make all of your changes. Get comfortable using this interface as it makes your life very easy once set up.

Re: How do i connect to iLO

you can use (if this is W2003 if not look for W2000)

HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility for Windows Server 2003

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26992.html
" This smart component contains the HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility for Windows Server 2003 and Longhorn.
HP Lights-Out Online Configuration utility is a command line utility used to configure iLO and RILOE II from within the operating system without requiring a reboot of the server.
"

this tool is important if you don't want to reset your server to access iLO using F8

using this tool online, you can configure your server and see the ip(DHCP) or assign a static IP.

I almost forgot

"Install it on the server. You can use it to extract the iLO configuration into an XML file. Edit the file to correct the IP address, then use the utility to feed the configuration back to the iLO."

Re: How do i connect to iLO

Tried that...

The software is not supported for installation on this system.

The installation program couldn't find the Insight Management Agents which are required but is not currently installed. Please install these agents and then rerun the setup program.

Press 'Close' to exit Setup.

that's what i get

W2K3 SP2
iLO v2
have advanced license not installed...

Re: How do i connect to iLO

weird my system management homepage shows me a link for that

open a browser with the ip, with that IP I use it to access the server using iLO from other computer

sometimes you get 0.0.0.0 by ip but sometimes you just need close and open again the browser or reconnect the ilo cable

Re: How do i connect to iLO

I get this when trying to update the firmware...

The software will not be installed on this system because the required hardware is not present in the system or the software/firmware doesn't apply to this system.

Press 'Close' to exit Setup.

Re: How do i connect to iLO

what do you mean locally?

the link appears?

ok if you can reboot that server try getting access to the iLO F8 on POST if you dont get the message (a message will indicate press F8 to enter iLO)

if this message does not appear it's because iLO is disabled

Re: How do i connect to iLO

all 6 of them have teh F8 option, and it works.

Right now i have the PSP installed and all of them have the iLO now workign locally, meaning i can go to http://127.0.0.1

but if i try to go to the ip from my station, it says page cannot be displayed.

they are ML360's ML380's etc.

Our blade servers arrive in a week and want to have this figured out.
