Re: How does PC2700 affect an 800 FSB in the DL360?
You must use PC2700 DDR 333 Registered SDRAM in the DL360G4 server.
You can install up to 8GB of RAM in the server.

Re: How does PC2700 affect an 800 FSB in the DL360?
This is just a guess, but as I have spoken face to face with a few of the designers and engineers at HP and previously with Compaq on the ProLiant line, I know they choose the conservative path and stability over the long run that to rush out with the latest and greatest bleeding edge and find that the systems are not a stable as they need them to be.
We end users are an ornery bunch and we can complain at the drop of a hat when our expectations are not met with a product.

Solutionhttp://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/options/memory-description.html
Documentation at the bottom of the page...
also:

Some light reading may shed some light on why they coose the slower ram for the DL360 and faster for the other servers...
