how many physical processor for ESX VMware
Hello,
In VMware requirements for ESX 3.x there are
"At least two processors":
! 1500 MHz Intel® Xeon and above, or AMD Opteron (32‐bit mode) for ESX
Server
! 1500 MHz Intel® Xeon and above, or AMD Opteron (32‐bit mode) for Virtual
SMP
! 1500 MHz Intel® Viiv or AMD A64 x2 dual‐core processors.
Confusing question:
Is DL380 G5 with ONE but dual-core Intel Xeon 5300 series processors is correct for ESX VMware?
thx and brgds

Re: how many physical processor for ESX VMware
ESX processor numbers refer to physical sockets, (Licensing-wise, anyway) so technically that server would be considered a 1-processor server. That being said, I've had ESX3 installed on a single dual-core processor (DL385) and had no problems, as long as there aren't a lot of VM's on that host.
