Subject say it all. I want to put one on my desk. Please don't lecture me on how it is server room machine: I already know that. Worksation boxes are just too huge and besides I already have one.

Re: How noisy is a DL145?
Supposing you can get the figures from the specs and just need a subjective description, here it goes. It sounds like a jet when it's starting up. After that, it's pretty quiet when you compare it to other 1U servers. It's still probably noisier than any "workstation box" you've ever heard, just because the fans are too small - and you can't trick the physics.
The noise depends on the CPU load, but if you're not running some hash cracker, your load won't be that big, I guess. So I think it's possible to work next to this thing, but you'll probably have to switch it off if you sleep nearby.

Re: How noisy is a DL145?
In two words: very noisy.
Besides it's too big for a desktop, yes it may be 1U but it's 28" long, way longer than a regular PC.
