Re: How to add additional hard drive in RAID 5 without losing data?
Hi,
Not all RAID controllers supports this feature. Let us know which is the RAID controller in the system / we have to check the specifications of the RAID controller.
Otherwise we have to take a full backup and recreate the RAID volume with 6 disks.
With Regards,
Siva.

Re: How to add additional hard drive in RAID 5 without losing data?
Hi,
If your RAID COntroller supports capacity addition, you can do it. Remember to take a full backup for safety.
You can expand the array to new hdd. only limitation is new hdd capacity should be equal or higher of other hdds in the array. If you are using a higher capacity hdd , you will lose the balance space.
Please post the model of RAID controller.
Regards,
Shameer
