How to erase the 18.2-GB disks !
Hi There,
In my configuration I have a DL380 with a Smartarray 432 controller and 2 18.2-GB ultra3 SCSI disks. I have made a raid 1 configuration, without installing an OS. then i want to remove on disk from my server and insert a mirror of a working Terminal Server in the machine. Normaly this work if i use an empty (not used before!) disk to mirror to. but if i use a disk that has been in the server before, the server mirrors the "empty" disk on the full installed disk. I can't find a way to clea the information on a disk that is erased by the sartstart utility. I think i need to do this becausethe server keeps recognising the "empty" disk like it is the right master to mirror.
Pleas help, we already worked on this problem for 3 weeks and don not have a solution yet.
Thanks

Re: How to erase the 18.2-GB disks !
running the erase utility should clear that drive (and anything else attached to the system)..
if that is what you are doing and it still recognizes the drive as part of an already existing raid set verify the following:
1) are you sure you arent configuring a mirror set on the drives in the system already that includes that drive?
2) clear your NVRAM there might be a settng in there that is holding old info

We are here for a good time, not a long time!

Re: How to erase the 18.2-GB disks !
Thanx for the reaction.
I did find out that a signature is placed on the drives, and only will be erased if u use these drives in a other server.
So i did finaly erase all disks and rebuild my 2 servers.....
Thanx again.
