How to install Ubuntu on Proliant ML30
I have just purchased a Prolian ML30 and wish to install Ubuntu Linux.
How can I get the drivers. They don't appear on the support site. the support site referencing other "flavours" of linux.
I tried an install anyway since it has previously worked out of the box on another server I purchased (M50GEN9) but for the ML30 GEN9 installation fails and drops to a grub prompt.

Hi,

Re: How to install Ubuntu on Proliant ML30
Sadly I returned the two server I'd bought and am on the hunt for other servers that can support normally installable operating systems. like Ubuntu. Enterprise Suse and Redhat are a support based OSs whichfor us is unecessary. I do like Redhat Satelite server but not as quick and easy as apt-get being more suited to managing hundreds of computers rather than just a few.

All the OS's you've mentioned will install on the ML30. For RHEL and SLES you can use the embedded B140i RAID controller with a binary driver. For Ubuntu you need to set the controller to AHCI SATA mode as there is not an 'hpdsa' driver for Ubuntu. Most customers regardless of what Linux distributions disable the embedded Dynamic B140i RAID Controller and use AHCI SATA.
If you look at the ProLiant Linux certification and support matrices you can see what distribution minimums are supported on ProLiant servers
