How to Save and Restore the configuration of Smart Array Controller

We have a Proliant ML350 PIII 866Mhz with Smart Array Controller 431 .We need to upgrade the disks of array with 3 new 72GB!In case that i ll have problem with the new disks how could i restore the old configuration with old disks? and how can i save first the configuration!! Please contact me asap the work is pending!!!!!thankssssss!

The array configuration is written to the hard drives. So if you shut down, switch off, replace drives and switch on it should read the configuration from the drives.
