How to update DL180 G6 BIOS and BMC?

Hello.
I need help updating the firmware.

I have a DL180 G6 and I want to update my BIOS.
I came across this document regarding the BIOS update (https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c02773586) and found that the BMC needs to be updated in advance.
I was wondering if I need to update BMC and BIOS separately for this, or if I can use SPP to update both BIOS and BMC.
And what is the stable SPP version to use for the DL180 G6?

Unfortunately, I don't know the BIOS and BMC version of the server you are currently using.

There is no SPP for Gen 6 servers, Gen 7 is the earliest one produced.
Looking at the article I’d recommend running the BMC upgrade first, independent of the BIOS update

Thank you for answer.
We are going to update today and we are using Linux 6.x version.
BMC = Light out <- is this the same thing?
The file downloaded through the link is made with bootable usb.

When I tried to install the SPP 2011.09.0 version on the DL580 G5 server, some firmware was updated. Doesn't it work on pre-G7 servers at all?

From what I can find this SPP should support G5/6 blades.
If you run a manual update as opposed to automatic it should tell you what needs to be updated. Some later updates might not be included in the SPP so you might have to do these components manually

Hi jmwoo,

BMC is Baseboard Management Controller which is iLO, updating the Firmware of BIOS and iLO will get these updated.

It would be suggested to use the individual links for the update.
