Hp DL380 GEN 8 Health LED Flashing Red. Issues in system booting.

Hello everyone,

I am facing a critical issue with my HP DL380 GEN 8 server. The Health LED is flashing red at 1 cycle per second, which according to the manual indicates a system-critical error.

Issue Details:

• When I turn on the server, most of the time it shows a blank screen and nothing happens.
• Even after multiple forced shutdown and restart, the issue persists.
• Occasionally, when it does proceed to boot, I see the following message:

• Boot from HDD is set as the first priority, yet the server keeps attempting to boot from NIC.
• Even selecting HDD manually from the boot menu does not work, and it still attempts to boot from the network.

I would appreciate any guidance on what might be causing this issue and how to resolve it. Could this be a hardware failure (RAID controller, storage issue, motherboard problem)? Or is there something else I should check?

Hi @N0v0tel,

These may be the following issues:
1) DIMM issue:
   ANS: Memory DIMM might be failed. Please check in iLO if any DIMM is showing faulty. Replace it. 

2) RAID controller bettery failed : There may be rare chance of battery may not be working properly. 
   ANS: Please refer the quickspecs of RAID controller battery from Support.hpe.com for battery part number to replace.

I do not think it is an issue with the HDD. And if you have above issues, I believe that the data will not be lost.

@Rakshitha_K The problem is I cant even access the iLO to check the DIMM. Is there any other way to troubleshoot.?

I was able to access iLO finally. Getting multiple critical errors in integrated management log.

Hi @N0v0tel ,

Possible Cause:

Controller failed. Problems may have occurred while attempting to flash the ROM.

Action:

1. Reseat the array accelerator module.
2. Reseat the controller in the PCI slot.
3. If the problem persists, replace the array controller
