HP DL380 Gen10 NVMe Hardware Raid
Hello, I'm trying to setup a hardware Raid with NVMe drives. I've purchased and installed the drive cage and backplane, I've installed and that's when I found out that it will only do a software Raid. Is there HP storage adapter that is avilable to enable Hardware Raid? I've tried a Broadcom Megaraid 9560 16i and I see the card in Bios, but cannot get it to recoginze the drives. Has anyone been able to successfully setup a hardware Raid with NVMe's? Is the backplane tri-mode and does it conform to SFF-9402 wiring?
Below is what I installed on the server.

Re: HP DL380 Gen10 NVMe Hardware Raid
Hello,
You may refer to section Additional Options > HPE Boot Controllers on page 73 and Additional Options > Tri-mode RAID Controllers on page 74 of the HPE DL380 Gen10 Server's QuickSpecs for list of controllers for NVMe drives.

Re: HP DL380 Gen10 NVMe Hardware Raid
Hello Jram,
SSD NVMe architecture is not designed for hardware RAID. SSD NVMe are installed on PCIe cards and not controlled by Storage controller, that is why SSD NVMe is not supported on Hardware RAID.
These drives are designed for very high performance. You will have to use Software RAID.
You can only create a Hardware RAID if Storage devices are connected directly to the Storage Controller.
However, once these drives are recognized in OS, then at OS Level you can create the Software RAID.
Thanks

Re: HP DL380 Gen10 NVMe Hardware Raid
What about DL360 /DL380 Gen10 Proloant server but equiped in SFF U.2/U.3 bays ? Than this SFF drives can be NVMe SFFs. And than they are connected directly to Hardware RAID card (MegaRaid ?). What about such RAID-configuration ? Is it possible to create RAID-1 on these U.2/U.3 NVMe SFF drives and later boot from such RAID-1 volume to Windows Server ?
If not, what Proliant Server generation is able to be able do this in this way, a usually we could set as bootable hardware RAID-1 on standard HDD drives ?
Thanks for answer.
