HP DL380 Gen8
HI,
I recently picked up a used HP DL380 Gen8, everything works great and I love the product.
I also picked up a PCI-Express 2.0 to USB 3.0 Card, and installed it to the PCIe Riser slot of the side where my single CPU is insltalled on .
I don't have the power connected to the PCI-Express card, but I was planning to test with only the USB stick.
After plugging the PCIe card in, the DL380 doesnt recognize the device.
I have 2 questions;
-Am I missing anything or should I have taken a step prior to putting in the card?
-When I do want to plug in the power cable to the PCIe card, where do I draw the power from on the motherboard?
My environment:
Model : HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8
Single Processor : E5-2640 2.50GHz
Memory : DDR3 32GB
HDD : 3x 500GB 7.2K SAS 2.5 "HDD
Operating state : Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
Power supply : 2x 460W AC Power
RAID controller : HP Smart Array P420i 1GB
Optical Drive : DVD RW
Rail Kit & OS & Cable : None
Any help is appreciated - Thannks

Re: HP DL380 Gen8
I have seen the same on some Customer Sites.
Some Cards work, some do not, it's a try and error.
The last time I check all PCIe Specs of the Server and Card it did not work.
HPE does not offer a PCI USB Card for the Server.
