HP DL380G5 win2003 random disk access slow
Hello
I have just installed two server DL380G5 Intel Xeon 5130 ( 2Ghz), 2 Gb ram , 4 HD SAS 146 Gb ( Raid5 ) on a Smart Array P400 controller , Win2003 Server R2 32bit platform. Drivers and Smart Array firmware updated to the last release .The 256 Mb disk cache on a disk controller is working ok and is configured for 100% read .The performance of disk , even siply clicking and explore a disk folder sometimes is very slow and the system seem "hang" for a 5-10 second .No error listed on a event viewer and the test over the disk units from HP management is perfect .This situation occur from a clients PC on a LAN but even locally on a system console. No Antivirus program installed and no backup programs .The servers are only and simply file servers and this situation is very critical . Anyone can hepl me? Thanks

Re: HP DL380G5 win2003 random disk access slow
I know you said you were using the latest, but make sure that the SAS/SATA Controller Driver is up to date.
The 5.10 release and the 6.2 release both made noticeable performance increases for me. They stated the following from 5.10:
Added the following:
Enhancements to I/O path streaming to increase performance in all supported controllers.
SCSI Request Block (SRB) coalescing performance improvements for the Smart Array E200 and E200i controllers.
And in the 6.2 apparently only added support for the P800, but I saw better random I/O performance after 6.2 from 5.10. SQL restore times dropped WAY down.

Alberto did this work for you? I have exactly the same issue.
