HP Insight Event Notifier boot problems (w2k) (6.4)

After updating several ML350 G3 server to the new support pack (6.4) they al have the same problem

HP Insight Event Notifier does not come up good :(

MS Event Error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Date: 6-11-2003
Time: 13:09:25
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER1
Description:
The HP Insight Event Notifier service terminated with service-specific error 4.

I've searched around but there wasn't a good answer, I have this problem on several Windows 2000 versions and the hardware configs are almost the same

this is very annoying cause now I will not get notified if there's something wrong (auto restart service after 5 mins (or something like that) does not work :(

has anyone expersience with this ?

Re: HP Insight Event Notifier boot problems (w2k) (6.4)

There was a discussion on Insight Manager 7 forum : http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=234599

The reason is that starting with version 6.40 of the agents, not all features are supported by Event Notifier.

The solution is
1. Downgrade to 6.30
2. Use something else instead of Event Notifier (Insight Manager 7 for example)

Re: HP Insight Event Notifier boot problems (w2k) (6.4)

Your Virus Scanner or Firewall is blocking the port used by the HP Event Notifier Service, which uses Port25 to send emails to otify you of system outages.

Unblock the port, turn off your Virus Scanner, or Firewall to see that this works.
