HP Proliant DL320e Gen8 V2 - Status Code 0182

Hello everyone,

I recently obtain this server and it cannot boot. There is a description of what happen after i press Power Button.
Green light from Power Button and two next to it too.
The screen : Proliant system BIOS - P80 - 03/28/2014 [...] Early system initialization, please wait.... Progress : 10% Early Processor Initialization // At the bottom : iLO 4 IP : Disabled, Status Code : 0168
After few seconds no display (black screen) and fans go quiet.
Automatically it boot again, and display same screen for few seconds.
A loud beep start and at the same time Progress go to 20% and "Processing Log Information. Memory and QPI Link Initalisation Start". The beep longs 30 seconds.
No display again, VGA no signal and i can hear some cyclic "click click click click" coming from inside for few minutes after i shutdown the server.

I read that 0168 might occurs due to hardware error so, there's what i but in the server : 4 slots used by 32 Gb RAM. I tried with 2 differents ECC RAM mdoels. None of my HDD socket have LEDs on. I tried to plug HDD on my workstation with SATA usb converter but nothing appairs so I change one of the HDD by a know working one and i keep the second original. Inside the server some time i can see a Amber (Orange) LED.

So I want to know how can I be sure HDD works, enable iLO without BIOS, find harware error and what to do when i have black screen and clicks continiously ?

Re: HP Proliant DL320e Gen8 V2 - Status Code 0182

Hello @LoydeNomle ,

The problem is related to the memory, hence remove all the DIMMs and reinstall them in the proper slot.
Also, clear the CMOS. For clearing the CMOS, please refer to this link.

For enabling iLO without BIOS, please refer to this link.

For more information on supported DIMM models and HDDs, please refer to this QuickSpecs

If the issue still persists, request you to log a case with HPE support team.

Thanks,
Sahana S

I fixed my issue last week but i didn't close my topic. For all these you have same issue as mine : Replace CMOS with a new one and be sure DIMM you are using is 2Rx8 and not 2Rx4, i think with "x4" server don't accept it. Specifically the one i used and worked with is : 4Gb 2Rx8 PC3L-10600E-9-10-E0.
