HP Proliant DL380 G5 Hot Swap?
I have a DL380 G5 that has a dead hard drive in a RAID 5 array, it has VMWARE ESXi server with a ubuntu webshost installed on it.
Is it safe to perform a hot swap without HP management software installed on it?

Re: HP Proliant DL380 G5 Hot Swap?
The OS can only see a logical drive, not any physical disk.
Pull the correct disk and insert a new disk, the controller will start a rebuild.
Even there are no tools within the OS, you should see the status via ILO.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
