HP Proliant DL380 Gen10 Box3 Drive LED indicator not working.

Hi All,

Am using 2 SSD in RAID 0(Mirror) for OS and 6 HDD in RAID 6 for storage. The server doesn't show any error for the HDDs in iLO and Array menus and it functions normal. The firmware for iLO is uptodate and the array controller is Megaraid-MR416i-p. Any advices?

There is a similar issue where the LED does not work:-
Advisory: (Revision) HPE Gen10 Plus Tri Mode Controllers - Predictive Failed LED Is Not Illuminated Until the Drive Is Operational  

So recommend you to make sure the controller firmware and drive firmware is updated. The controller send signals to the backplane to illuminate LED's on the drive so if the firmware update does not work and none of the drive have any LED then it is possible that the controller or the backplane may have some issues. If this is the case then recommend you to log a support case.

Yes i have checked the Firmware version of trimode controller its 52.16.3-4455, which is the recommended firmware in the article, i will try updating HPE smart storage energy pack firmware and Bios firmware. Attached my current firmware versions of the embedded units:

I have updated all the firmware of hardwares using SPP. The current firmware version of MR4161-p is 52.24.3-4948. Still no change!

When both an unconfigured physical (HBA) drive and a logical (RAID) drive are present on a Gen10 Smart Array controller attached to a SAS expander, the LEDs on the HBA drive will not be illuminated.

This issue has been resolved in Smart Array firmware version 1.34 (or later).

Also, the server manages the LED indicator if the HDDs are authentic HPE parts. Please check if those HDDs are authentic or not.

Hi Tarik,

There are no unconfigured disks, all the disks are Configured in Raid. And i am not using HPE Smart array, instead using MR controller.
