Re: HP PROLIANT DL385P G8 HALT ON POST
I have the exact same problem. Gets stuck at Early System initialization, please wait.... Progress: 10%. I have to power off the server, and then power it back on it will finally power up all the way, it only does this to me on a reboot never on a cold boot. Be nice if HP would chime in on whats going on here.

Re: HP PROLIANT DL385P G8 HALT ON POST
I'm encountering the same problem.
Do you have solve yours ?
About the context, i'm encountering this same problem on a HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 (a blade in a HP BladeSystem C7000 enclosure).
We have tried to boot the server in a minimal configuration (without Mezzanine card and with minimal RAM Dimm). The problem persists. An HP technician have also changed the mainboard, in vain. And we have also tested to insert the blade in another bay of enclosure, for eliminate a potential bad backplane. But the problem remain.. :-(
Thanks by advance for your reply,
Best regards.
Fabian.

Re: HP PROLIANT DL385P G8 HALT ON POST
Hello,
we experienced the same issue at the third server some weeks ago
At the first server failing, HP Support replaced the system board and both the CPUs.
It seems to work now (we tried only one reboot).
We will go one with this at the other two server.
Did anyone got a reason from HP, where this error comes from?
regards,
Serverguy_m

Make sure you are running the latest system ROM. . Reset NVRAM using switch 6 on the system board.

Re: HP PROLIANT DL385P G8 HALT ON POST
One of our HP ProLiant DL385p Gen8 servers that we purchased new in May 2015 has had this same problem since it was installed. I tried updating the firmware and clearing the NVRAM but neither made any difference. I'm currently working with HP to have the system board replaced.
