Has anyone used 250GB ATA drives in a ML110? It seems so strange that HP only offers 40GB and 80GB drives for this server. HP states the max internal storage as 240GB even in the QuickSpecs dated March 17, 2004 (using three drives). Looks like it would be simple and inexpensive to configure 3x250GB.

Solution
Hi,
I haven't used an ML110, but I had an ML310 with 200GB ATA Drives, and they were not recognised properly on the onboard controller(only saw up to 135GB or so). An extra PCI ATA Controller (non-HP) was installed to get these disks correctly recognised. But there were problems if there were disks on both the onboard and the PCI controller (system wouldn't boot from a disk on the onboard controller anymore)
Regards,
Stephen

Re: HP Proliant ML110 w/ Ultra ATA/100 controller
This is correct, the old IDE controllers did not have mapping for more than 120GB drives. I would also suggest replacing the onboard controller with a modern ATA133 one to get the best results/.
