HP smart Array P420i controller

I am trying to install windows server on a HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8 but its giving me the following error

Slot 0 HP Smart Array P420i Controller
(2 GB, v8.00) 0 Logical Drives
Hardware RAID support is disabled via controller NVRAM configuration settings.
1709-Slot 0 Drive Array - One or more attached hard drives could not be authenticated as a genuine HP hard drive. Smart Array will not control the LEDs to these drives.
Please run HP Smart Storage Administrator (HP SSA) or ACU to learn which drives could not be validated as genuine.

Can anyone please help me. Thanks

I assume the Controller is in HBA Mode Setting.

To disable the HBA Mode, use the SSA CLI:

ssacli ctrl all show
#and then, depending on where the controller is
ssacli ctrl slot=0 modify hbamode=off

Or use the Smart Storage Administrator GUI.

Re: HP smart Array P420i controller

Yes this looks like the controller is in HBA mode. For the drive genuine error check if you are using HPE drive and if not then this message is justified and can be ignored. However if the drive is HPE then make sure the controller and drive firmware are updated to the latest. If issue persists then shutdown the server, reseat the drive and check by swapping with a good known spare.
