HP Version Control Agent Service
I was having a problem with the HP Version Control Agent Service where the service would hang in starting mode. I tried to uninstall it but it hung, so I disabled the service and rebooted the machine. Now I no longer see the software in Add/Remove programs but the agent service is still is service manager window.
How can I ensure that the software is removed 100% so I can re-install it?
BTW, i'm running adl380 G4 on windows 2003 std sp2.
Thanks

Re: HP Version Control Agent Service
I am unable to run the install for the second link you provided. Because, it did not completely un-install the first time, it see a version already installed. Once again, I can not use add/remove programs to uninstall it because not there.
See attachment for error.
Thanks

Re: HP Version Control Agent Service
install latest proliant support pack
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=397634&prodNameId=3288132&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-6f78c741679b4ec7a6ff1198ba
when you do this you will have the option to install what you want so you can select version control agent doing a force installation

Re: HP Version Control Agent Service
Had a similar problem. Was caused by the fact that I uninstalled the Management Homepage before I tried to uninstall the Version Control Agent.
Putting the SMH back before trying to uninstall the Version Control Agent solved the problem.

Re: HP Version Control Agent Service
try this:
-Remove all the PSP components from add/ remove programs (HP ACU, HP ADU, Insight diagnostics online edition ,HP insight management agents,SMH...)
-Delete c:\HP
-Delete the registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Compaq Insight Agent\HOST GUID
-Reboot the server and restart snmp
- Install PSP again (it should be no problem to install the VCA now)
I did not understood which was your PSP version originally?
