HP9000 N-server: two fans out; sys thinks only 1 gone! No shutdown.
We have a lab in which we experiment with HP9000's. In the past we have pulled out two fans and the system shuts down. Today I showed people how this works---I pulled pulled out the front two fans (fans 0, and 1)---but the system did not shut down as it should.
If we pull out fan 0, the other fans do not increase in speed and the GSP log shows the fan as still present, but the Power monitor LED for fan 0 goes out.
The other fans function as expected. That is, if we pull fans 2 and 3 (etc.), the system properly shuts down.
Anyone got any idea what could be wrong?

Bad power monitor card.
