HPE Azure Local Instance Deployment Snap-in Support for DL385 Gen11?
I have an **HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11** server, and I'm looking to use the **HPE Azure Local Instance Deployment and Update Snap-in** for firmware and software updates within an **Azure Local Instance** environment.
However, I noticed that the official documentation only mentions support for the **DL380 Gen10, Gen10 Plus, and Gen11**, but does not reference the **DL385 Gen11**.
Does anyone know if the **DL385 Gen11** is officially supported, or if there are any alternative methods to integrate it with Azure Local Instance Deployment? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: HPE Azure Local Instance Deployment Snap-in Support for DL385 Gen11?
Hello,
That's an excellent question, and your observation is correct. Based on the official HPE documentation you referenced, here’s a detailed answer:
Official Support Status
You are correct. As of the current release notes for the HPE Azure Local Instance Deployment and Update Snap-in (Version 1.2.0), the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 is not yet listed as an officially supported server.
The documentation explicitly mentions support for the Intel-based models:
- HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10
- HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Plus
- HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11
The absence of the DL385 Gen11 (which is an AMD-based platform) indicates that the validation and integration required for the snap-in have not been completed or released for this specific model yet.
Alternative Methods and Recommendations
Since the dedicated snap-in is not an option for your DL385 Gen11 at this time, here are the recommended alternative approaches for managing firmware and software updates:
Standard HPE Update Method (Manual Integration): The most reliable alternative is to use the standard HPE lifecycle management tools, independent of the Azure Local snap-in.
- Use the HPE iLO Interface: You can remotely manage your server using its iLO port.
- Download the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP): Download the latest SPP specifically for the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 from the HPE Support Center.
- Apply Updates: Mount the SPP ISO via the iLO and run the update process. This ensures your server has the latest validated firmware, drivers, and software from HPE, even though it's managed outside the Azure Local Instance integration.
Contact HPE for a Roadmap: This is the most strategic step.
- Reach out to your HPE account representative or HPE Support.
- Inquire about the official product roadmap for adding HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 support to the Azure Local Instance Deployment Snap-in. They can provide the most accurate timeline and information on future availability.
Monitor for Future Releases: Keep an eye on the HPE Support Center for new versions of the snap-in. It is possible that support for the DL385 Gen11 will be included in a future release.
In summary, while you cannot use the integrated snap-in today, you can still effectively manage your DL385 Gen11 using standard HPE tools like iLO and the SPP. For official integration, contacting HPE for their roadmap is the best path forward.
