Please download the file corresponding to your server and operating system from the Drivers and Software section. The installation instructions provide further details.
1.  HPE ProLiant DL160 G6 Server

For example: If you are using the Windows OS for DL380 G6, Refer to this file and download it.
The above component provides updated system firmware that can be installed directly on supported Operating Systems. Additionally, when used in conjunction with Smart Update Manager (SUM), this Component allows the user to update firmware on remote servers from a central location.

    I agree with Greeshma. Another way is, you can also try with SPP to update the system components including BIOS .
    Refer the below image which says it is compatible for all Gen6 Servers.

Thanks to all the advices, but I gave up. Either do I have to install Windows server or Redhat enterprise just to update the firmware. I was hoping for an USB-bootable solution, but these are either remved by HP or hidden behind service contracts.
