HPE Proliant DL380 GEN10

Hi,

I have 2 HPE proliant DL380 servers with HPE Smart Array E208e-p SR Gen10 Controller and installed ESXi 8.0U1 custom iso for HPE. I connected a Lenovo DE6000F to it via SAS.

I have already applied to ESXi hosts

esxcli storage nmp satp rule add -s VMW_SATP_ALUA -V LENOVO -M DE_Series -c tpgs_on -P VMW_PSP_RR -e "Lenovo DE-Series arrays with ALUA support"

On the storage is the Volume set to VMware VMFS and the host type is VMware Esxi, but when I write to esxi nmp device, it does not find anything. But in Vcenter on Storage Adapters for HPE E208e-p type SAS, I see 1 Device 1 Path and 1 target.

Can someone help me with this

As per section Compatibility > Disk Enclosure Support, on page 4 of the HPE Smart Array E208e-p SR Gen10 Controller's QuickSpecs, the following disk enclosures are supported:

• HPE D3610 Disk Enclosure
• HPE D3710 Disk Enclosure
• HPE D6020 Disk Enclosure
• HPE MSA 1040 SAN Storage
• HPE MSA 1050 SAN Storage
• HPE MSA 2040 SAN Storage
• HPE MSA 2050 SAN Storage

What I understand is that supported devices are tested to work along with the controller in question. For the desired result from the mentioned thrid party disk enclosure, you may install that third party's suggested controller for the mentioned enclosure and see if the desired result is obtained.

Sorry for the late reply but I was out of the office.  So as I understood it correctly, HPE E208e-p SR Gen10 does not support Lenovo DE6000F storage?

It can be said that the controller in question has not be officially tested and verified to work with the mentioned third party storage system. This implies that one may or may not be able to create and manage RAID arrays from such storage system compared to that of an HPE provided JBOD which this controller is designed to work with.

You may refer to the documentation for that storage solution which talks about compatibile controllers for it and consider trying one such controller before finalizing it.
