Re: HPE Smart Array controllers ar,br,nr meaning
Hi.
From my understanding the AR controllers are used for Rack servers, DL.
BR is used for Blade servers BL
NR is used for Synergy servers
I guess it's different special ports to connect the smart array to the motherboard that exist for the different types of servers.

Re: HPE Smart Array controllers ar,br,nr meaning
Torsten,
A few comments about this breakdown you provided.
1. The second digit of the number - in your example, a 0 - to me seems to be the generation. For example, the Gen8 servers had x2y or x3y controllers, and now the Gen9's have x4y controllers.
2. It doesn't tell me what the r at the end (say P440ar) stands for.
3. I have some ML350 Gen9's with a B140i on the system board.
Just looking for a little clarification.
Respectfully,
Ken Krubsack

Re: HPE Smart Array controllers ar,br,nr meaning
The B140i is different, it is part of the board and a DYNAMIC smart array, this means driver based, not hardware based
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
