HPSUM cp021548.exe - Error reading XML file

I'm using HPSUM to deploy HP Service Pack for ProLiant version 2014.02.0 on a ProLiant DL360 G5 running Server 2008 R2 SP1.  cp021548.exe, the  HP Broadcom Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Windows Server x64 Editions, is failing with:

 - the component will be updated to the new version

OnlineFWUpg_bcm::Install -- Error reading XML file.
The installation procedure did not complete successfully.  An error occurred during the setup process.

Additional Information:
Error reading XML file.

I have rebooted and retried with the same results.  Has anyone else encountered this?

Hi,

I am not sure if drivers are the reason for this error but Installation Instructions states the following:

Prerequisites:
This package requires the appropriate driver for your NIC be installed before firmware can be updated.

Just make sure you have installed the drivers for this NIC and its not using a Generic Windows driver.

Download the standalone HP Broadcom Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Windows Server x64 Editions firmware and update it without using SPP.

Thanks, Suman.  The HP Broadcom drivers are installed for the 2 NICs on this server.  I used your link to download HP Broadcom Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Windows Server x64 Editions (cp021548.exe), version 4.0.0.26 (18 Feb 2014). The installation identified CCM as the only component requiring updating … the Bootcode and UMP are already up-to-date.  So, I selected only the CCM for each of the two NICs.  The installation failed with:

ERROR: Upgrade of HP NC373i Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter MAC: 00237D32A640 failed with internal error 27

I have the same problem (internal error 27) on a DL380G5 with NC373i

The older Version 4.0.0.22 (cp018468) doesn't work too.

Maybe the G5-Hardware is too old for that firmware (the "current version" on the Site "Server 2008 R2 downloads for HP ProLiant DL380 G5"  is 3.1.1.22)
