IDE HD coexist with RAID array
I was attempting to make an image of my NT 4 boot drive using Powerquests Drive Image Pro. I usually do this with workstations by connecting an Extra IDE HD to the the box and storing the image there.
Unfortunately, when I connect the IDE drive (replacing the CDrom as the master in the IDE chain), and boot to DOS with the Drive Image Pro diskette, the array cannot be seen. Without the drive connected, the array can be seen fine.
I'm guessing that there is a BIOS setting, but i could use a cluse before I start mucking iwht a priduction server.
Thanks
Jim

Re: IDE HD coexist with RAID array
the ide chain is not designed for hard drives, this is why it will not work..there is a voltage difference on this sever for that..if you want to do this setup then you will need a pci ide controller in the system as well
