ilo exposure to world wide web danger

Hi  this is my story

i work in a warehouse where is temperature monitored (fridge) . When there is  a problem a text message arrives to my mobile phone ( low temp) . Sometimes the alarm is false and  the message is not reliable.

I want to power on my computer from home and lunch the monitoring software at the warehouse  and have a look at the temperatures.

We own a hp proliant m110 g7 and we use it a regular pc not as a server.  With port forwarding  from the browser i can power on the hp machine and lunch the monitoring software. My worry is that this is not a good practise , direct exposure to web.

If i change the default port  and put a strong username and password  is it enough ? .  The hp machine keeps nothing important to loose.

also my router is not VPN ready to make a vpn .

please point me to the right direction

thank you in advance

I would setup a VPN.  iLO was not designed to be exposed directly to the Internet. It is best practice to keep it in a segregated management network.
