Hi I have just bought a ML30 Gen 9 for home use and at boot I am getting Ilo errors, I have tried to update the firmware but this doesnt work it says unable to initialize Ilo channel interface Return code 4. On researching this error I have come accross numerous references to iLo configuration in the bios, this does not exist in my bios, could I possibly be missing siome software/ firmware? I have attached an image, could anyone let me know if I am missing something Software/firmware etc. Or give me any advice so I can resolve this issue. Its not really a problem as like I stated its just for home use and still boots but anything not working really bugs me. Thanks for any help

Re: ILO Problem HP ML30
Your correct it is a duplicate post, however the first post was in general servers and it should have been in prolient servers were this post is, I realised after I posted the first one I would probably get a better response in the prolient server group/area

Re: ILO Problem HP ML30
Many ProLiant servers ship with redundant ROM capabilities. Redundant ROM is a failover mechanism wherein the original ROM can be kept as backup in case of network failure during ROM upgrade.
To access the redundant ROM manually:
1. Remove power to the server.
2. Set the system maintenance switch positions 1, 5, and 6 to ON.
3. Power up the server.
4. After the server emits two beeps, power down the server.
5. Reset the system maintenance switch positions 1, 5, and 6 to OFF

Re: ILO Problem HP ML30
Hi Karim, Just a quick question, I have just tried whar you said and I just get a red light on the front of the server no beeps, how long does it take I may have shut it down before it finished.

Re: ILO Problem HP ML30
Solved the issue. Created a ubuntu usb-stick. Started the server with the stick and downloaded ilo4 firmware 2.82 and ran the flash with "--direct" option. And with the system maintenance switch #1 in on position. Now the ilo is working again. After the ilo got working again i changed back the system maintenance switch #1 to off again.

Re: ILO Problem HP ML30
Good day!
Meanwhile @Jebz shares the info with you, I would suggest you give it a try to the below troubleshoot steps to resolve this issue:
>> Ensure that the iLO hardware is properly seated and connected within the server. Re-seat the iLO card if necessary.
>> It's good that you've attempted a firmware update, but since you're encountering issues with it, try the following:
a. Make sure you're using the correct firmware update package for your server model. Sometimes, using an incorrect firmware package can cause issues.
b. Double-check that the server's power is stable during the firmware update process. Any interruptions can lead to firmware corruption.
c. Try to update the iLO firmware through different methods, such as from within the server's OS or using an Intelligent Provisioning USB.
d. If you have a physical copy of the firmware update, ensure it's not corrupted or damaged.
>> It's strange that you're not finding iLO configuration in the BIOS settings. This could indicate a problem with the BIOS version or settings. Make sure your BIOS is up-to-date, and check if there are any specific BIOS settings related to iLO that need to be enabled.
>> Try resetting the iLO to its factory defaults. This can often resolve configuration-related issues. You can typically do this through the iLO web interface or by using the physical reset button on the server (refer to the server's manual for the exact procedure).
>> Ensure that the iLO network cable is connected correctly, and the iLO port on the server is properly configured. Check if the iLO port has a link LED lit.
Hope this give some insights....

SolutionIn a linux terminal
"sudo bash CP053894.scexe --direct" without the quotation marks. And you need two files CP053894.scexe and firmware-ilo4-2.82-1.1.i386.rpm placed in a folder together and both files must have the permissions to be executed. "sudo chmod +x CP053894.scexe" and "sudo chmod +x firmware-ilo4-2.82-1.1.i386.rpm" if that doesn't work replace +x with 777.
And service switch 1 must be on to disable ilo security and linux may load the hpilo module automatically and then you need to unload that module by typing "sudo rmmod hpilo" before running the flash program.
