Hi @Mastera ,

Thank you for the Post.

You may try the below steps one by one :

1) Update the ILO to the very latest available. : 2.76 : https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_05d0ca21a226439086cf02c9a0#tab-history

2) Reset ILO : ILO > Diagnostics > Reset (This will log you out and you may have to enter the Credentials again)

3) Perform NAND Format : You may refer the link which has the Steps in detail with Screenshots : https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00048622en_us (Steps to perform a NAND format via the iLO GUI)

Let us know once these steps are followed

Thank you

Hi @Mastera ,

Kindly let us know if the steps were performed and the status of the issue.

If all the steps were performed then we may have to repalce System Board.

However once the steps performed were confirmed, we can conlude that.

Thank you,

Ram

The problem is the iLO flash chip that is soldered on the mainboard. This chip gets faulty due to an excessive amount of read/write operations. This is the case with older iLO firmware. HP has released newer firmware that addresses this issue. Unfortunately this will not help if your chip is already damaged.

There is also a possibility to re-format the flash chip if it encounters problems. I have tried that several times on many machines but the error will come back after a few minutes, hours or days.

The only way to fix it, is to replace that chip which requires a professional BGA soldering station or to replace the board. This problem exists on all G8 and Gen9 servers equipped with that chip. The flash chip was introduced with "Intelligent Provisioning", a software that was delivered as "Smart Start" on DVD up to G7 generation.

The reason why HP decided not to use a removable SD card is unclear...
