iLO4 remote console from Linux machine with Firefox doesn't start

Hi!

I'm trying to start iLO4 remote console from Linux machine, and no luck. I have tried it on two different OSes, 32bit Ubuntu 14.04, and 32bit Debian 8, I get the same results.

I'm using Firefox, tried several versions from 31 to 38, and get the same results no matter which firefox version I use. I have pop-ups enabled. I've also tried clean system install and clean firefox with no settings.

I tried 4 different versions of Java: 1.6.0_01, 1.6.0_45, 1.7.0_79 and 1.8.0_45

I cannot activate 1.6.0_01 java plugin at all in tried Firefox versions, it just doesn't show up in Plugins list in Firefox.

With version 1.6.0_45 i get the question from firefox to Allow starting Java, I allow it, and then it throws an exception in Java console:

Exception: java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError

I cannot get anything from this exception, I'm not that much into java and its errors, but searching the web with that exception didn't bring some usable answers.

After the exception, nothing happens, no popup, no other tab, window or anything. I can now press "Launch" button again, and it just does the same exception again and nothing else.

With version 1.7 and 1.8 of Java when I click on "Launch" button, nothing happens, no questions from Firefox, no Java console  (cause the Java obviously doesn't even start), no error or any informative message in any console available from developer tools or firebug. Just nothing.

I have already tried to turn off TLS1.1 and 1.2 in Java Control Panel as suggested on some sites on internet, tried to clear Java cache, browser cache every time, and still no remote console for me.

Did someone manage to start this in Firefox on Linux system?

I'm able to start Remote console from Windows machine with no problems, but sometimes I don't have access to Windows machine and can't do anything then.

I am having the same issue.

Chrome does not load Java anymore, due to a change in their plugin architecture.  So I would give up with that browser.

Firefox however has always been reliable for Java software on Linux, for me personally.  This time nothing as you say.

Your original post has had 3 weeks with no answers.  I am quite surprised there has been no resolution to something as majorly broken as this.

HPSC? Are you kidding me? :)

Those support pages don't offer nothing, especially not solution for problem such as this. I even tried to contact chat and some other written support, and all they ever do is redirect to HPSC page, as you did, which is not at all helpful, especially in such specific issue.

That is the reason I posted this problem here in hope someone of the customers might have the solution, cause HP obviously doesn't care...

Have to run WinXP virtually in order to use ILO2,iLO3 and ILO4. Given up on getting it to work natively.

- will not continue buying HP servers, partly because of these issues.

Have you tried using SSH into iLO and using 'textcons' ?

...but that issue with Java console persists. Anyhow, SSH textcons makes the server at least accessible

I've got console with (now) latest java8 (build 1.8.0_66-b17).

1. log in to iLO

2. navigate to https://<ilo server>/html/java_irc.html?lang=en

update the ilo4 firmware (2.50)  now there's a java start button, which does work fine with firefox on linux

I can't believe HP still don't include a HTML5 viewer.   Dell and IBM already did it.  What are they waiting for?

I am about to buy few servers to replace our old G6 and HP will be excluded because of this. 

Java console is not an option anymore.

hpe still not doing any step on this. 

ILO console is not accessible from  LINUX is very bad.

Tested with Arch linux - I installed jre8 and was able to use JavaWS without having to setup jre8 as the 'main' java of the system.
