Installation ILO firmware *.rpm files in Debian

Hi guys,

according ILO Userguide I can apply for firmware_file_name.RPM files:
#rpm2cpio <firmware_file_name>.rpm | cpio -id

and subsequently I run hpsetup by typing ‘./hpsetup’ at the command prompt.

Is this method correct for debian?

Thanks

Jiri

Re: Installation ILO firmware *.rpm files in Debian

Hi @Jiri3

I have not tried in Debian but it worked for me in readhat and centos so

it should work in debian as well.

Install "rpm2cpio" package if not avaialble in Debian.

Re: Installation ILO firmware *.rpm files in Debian

Hi Sudhir,

thank you for your interest.

I can expand an RMP firmware file in Debian. I see all the files in order,  including the "setup" file.
I can run a setup file on a non-HPE practice debian. And I wonder how he gave?

We have only one DL360Gen10 server with Debian and it is in continuous operation and necessary
interruptions due to restart/reboot must be announced long in advance. I can't afford server failure.
So I need to test the installation in Debian on something that doesn't need a reboot server.

On the other hand, the server needs to update the system ROM, Innovation Engine and ServerPlatform.
The ILO firmware version is 2.18.

So I think it would be best to wait for a new ILO firmware update to be released ... would you have an idea?

Thanks

Jiri

Why you don't use the ilo webinterface for updating?

Re: Installation ILO firmware *.rpm files in Debian

How can we upload .rpm files in the web interface? The web interface states upload .bin files only.

Am I not getting it or something?
